Cheryl H. Duke, CFA

Ms. Cheryl H. Duke has 30 years of experience in investment management and research of institutional assets. She began her career with the Retirement Systems of Alabama in 1981 where she became Director of Equity Management. Ms. Duke later assumed the positions of Director of Research for Lowe, Brockenbrough & Company and Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager for Eastover Capital Management. In 2009, Ms. Duke founded Advisor Advantage Group, a firm dedicated to providing investment research and analysis to registered investment advisors.

Cheryl is an active member of the National Institute of Chartered Financial Analyst and the North Carolina Society of Chartered Financial Analysts.

Cheryl earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Auburn University, Montgomery with a major in Finance. She also earned her Master of Business Administration from Auburn University, Montgomery majoring in Finance. Additionally, she holds the prestigious designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Dana C. Lowder, CMFC, CRPS

Dana C. Lowder, Senior Consultant has 15 years experience in the field of corporate retirement plans. She began her career in 1997 in the retirement trust division of BB&T as a “conversion specialist” handling all aspects of converting the recordkeeping of defined contribution plans from third party record keepers including overseeing the entire conversion process and post testing to ensure accuracy. In 2002, Dana joined Findley Davies, Inc. as a Consultant in the Retirement Plan Practice and conducted a wide range of projects including sophisticated plan design analysis, compliance testing, analysis of alternative recordkeeping providers, and working with ERISA Counsel on complex operational review and correction projects. She returned to BB&T in 2005 as Vice President, Client Management. In 2009, she joined the Charlotte office of Morgan Stanley as an investment advisor representative.

Dana is past President of the Charlotte Benefits Forum and served on the Board of Directors. She is also an active member of the Charlotte Economics Club.

Ms. Lowder earned her B.S. with a major in Accounting and minor in Computer Science from Meredith College. She also earned her MBA with a concentration in Business Administration from Meredith College. Dana holds the designation of Chartered Mutual Fund Consultant (CMFC) from the College of Financial Planning. She also holds the designation of Certified Retirement Plan Specialist (CRSP) from the American Bankers Association. Ms. Lowder has passed FINRA security examinations series 7, 31, 66 and series 65 Uniform Law Examination.

Brian C. Hubbell, AIF®

Brian C. Hubbell, Principal, has over 30 years of experience exclusively in the field of employer sponsored retirement plans. Mr. Hubbell began his career in the Pension Investment Division of Mutual of New York in 1980. In 1985, he joined the consulting firm of Findley Davies where he spent over 20 years. As a senior Principal of the firm and member of the Board of Directors, he established the Charlotte office in 1987 and was the Practice Leader for the firm’s retirement consulting practice. In 2006, Mr. Hubbell founded Hubbell Consulting, LLC to establish a firm dedicated to corporate retirement plan consulting including Investment Counsel, Plan Compliance/Design, and Employee Retirement Outcomes.

Brian has been a guest speaker at national conferences sponsored by the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA), Center for Due Diligence, Pension and Investment Age East Coast Conference, and Profit Sharing/401(k) Council of America (PSCA). He is past president of the Charlotte Pension Forum and has been an instructor for the CEBS curriculum (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist).

Brian earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Iowa with a major in Business Administration. Mr. Hubbell holds the AIF® (Accredited Investment Fiduciary) designation from the Center for Fiduciary Studies affiliated with the Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh. He has also passed and holds FINRAs Series 65 Uniform Law Examination.

Michelle A. Maidt, CFA

Ms. Maidt has 35 years of institutional investment experience including 22 years in the investment division of Royal & Sun Alliance including positions of Fixed Income Portfolio Manager, Head of Equities overseeing the day to day management of all investment portfolios consisting of $6 billion in the life/ property casualty portfolios as well as the assets of the Pension Plan and 401(k) Plan for employees of Royal & Sun Alliance. Ms. Maidt also held the position as Chief Investment Officer for all of Royal & Sun Alliance investment portfolios. In 1997, Ms. Maidt founded Carnegie Capital Advisors providing asset management services to insurance companies, non-profit organizations, and high net worth individuals.

She has participated in the CFA Institute’s Investment Management Workshop which is limited to a select group of senior level investment executives selected from a global pool.

Carrie C. Teague, CEBS

Carrie is a Senior Consultant. Her primary focus is consulting to defined contribution retirement plans including 401(k), profit sharing, money purchase and employee stock ownership plans.

In general, she is responsible for helping clients maintain successful defined contribution plans which includes advising on plan design and administration issues, assisting in the communication of various plan related issues to employees, analyzing nondiscrimination test results and plan participation statistics and ensuring that plans are in compliance with current regulations, as well as anticipating the effects of proposed legislation. Carrie has also been involved in several strategic benefit re-design projects for large employers seeking to reassess their retirement programs after an acquisition (or series of acquisitions).

Prior to joining Hubbell Consulting, LLC, Carrie has 25 years of defined contribution consulting experience with Mercer. She has worked on a wide range of DC consulting projects including vendor searches, managing recordkeeping conversions, plan re-design studies/implementations, market place benefit comparability studies, nondiscrimination testing, and plan terminations. Carrie also has extensive experience in DC plan “operational reviews” to uncover errors and implement corrections working closely with ERISA Counsel.

Carrie has a B.S. in Statistics and a B.A. in Psychology from Appalachian State University. She also has the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist designation, as well as FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 licenses.
